This course examines the Solow model for the analysis of long-run economic growth, explains microfounded macroeconomic theories of consumption, introduces theories of investment and discuss the effects of financial and real investment decisions on economic activity, discusses the determinants of money demand and money supply and examines the conduct of monetary policy and assesses to what extent central banks can effectively control money supply in an economy.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to;
define the basic analytical framework underpinning the microfounded approach to aggregate consumption and investment.
discuss the relevance and main policy implications of the microfounded macroeconomic theories.
illustrate and explain the determinants of money supply and money demand.
revise the theoretical underpinning of fiscal policy and monetary policy.
compare macroeconomic implications of several policy applications.
formulate macroeconomic problems and apply the main macroeconomic models used in economic analysis to solve problems

Topics covered in the course 'Macroeconomics I' of the fall term is included in this course.
Exams will also include subjects covered in HEC 313.
The minimum attendance requirement is 70% of lectures and tutorials. If the student fails to meet the minimum attendance requirement they will not be allowed to take the final exam.
Makeup will be offered for both midterm and final exams to those students who have a documented health problem at the date of examination. Health document should be approved by a state hospital. The approval of health documents given for final exam should be approved by the faculty board. If a make-up exam is given for the midterm, topics covered until the date of make-up will be included in the make-up exam.
Minimum grade to be eligible for passing the course is 40
