This course focuses on historical, theoretical and practical information regarding urban environment and urban graphics. The aim of this course is to use knowledge and skills gained during the courses to develop concepts around certain topics and to apply these concepts via visual communication design projects. In this course students will observe, interpret and represent urban environments and they will design tools such as maps, signage systems, etc.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to;
  1. gain historical theoretical and practical knowledge regarding urban environment.
  2. develop visual communication design concepts regarding urban environment.
  3. apply visual communication design projects regarding urban environment.
  4. develop design tools regarding urban environment.
  5. gain observing, interpreting and representing skills as a designer regarding urban environment.

Attendance is a requirement. There is no resit exam for this course. Assignments and Final Project must be delivered via Bilgi Learn. Late deliveries will not be graded. Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity. Behavior that violates these standards is not acceptable. Plagiarism, cheating, and other forms of academic dishonesty are prohibited and subject to disciplinary action. Every student is assigned a bilgiedu.net e-mail address. It is expected that communications sent to bilgiedu.net e-mail addresses will be received and read in a timely fashion. Students can redirect this email address to an outside email provider. Students are encouraged to discuss, inquire, and express their thoughts and views during class. Classroom behavior that interferes with either the lecturer’s ability to conduct the class or the ability of students to benefit from the instruction is not acceptable. Students who display such behavior will be expelled from class.
