This course is planned as a continuation of the Introduction to Composition courses. Students will be working on a systematic approach to the art of composing through analyzing different styles of music and writing pieces for specific instrumentation and duration as directed by the instructor. Students will regularly listen to, analyze, and discuss various styles and forms of music, from European Art Music to most contemporary genres.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to;
Have a comprehensive knowledge of musical elements.
Restate the elements of a Musical composition in the twentieth century.
Practice the contemporary techniques of writing music.
Compare and discuss the music composed by the most influential composers of modern music.
Compose and perform music on the given subject.

Students are required to attend all the lectures. They will not be allowed to take the final exam if they miss more than 30% of them (5 weeks).
If a student misses a lecture, they are responsible for checking the related material on the course's Learn page. The resources on the course page will be enough to comprehend what they have missed.
The students will present weekly assignments of short compositions. Final projects will be performed and recorded.
Late submission of assignments will not be accepted. All assignment announcements are made through Bilgi Learn, and students are responsible for checking the page regularly.
It is not enough to submit an assignment; students must present it during the class. No grade will be provided without a presentation.
The final grade for the course will be evaluated as follows:
