In today’s music world it is important for a musician being up to date, aware of music business concepts and being able to deal with multiple operations in this business to catch the fast pace of the industry. This course aims to introduce the students the basic concepts of music business, new trends and hot topics in the music industry and most importantly give them a legal foundation so that they become fully equipped musicians.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to;
  1. Have an understanding of the music industry,
  2. Know musicians’ basic rights,
  3. Be able to detect the problems that a musician can encounter and generate ideas to overcome those problems,
  4. Understand the changes that the music industry goes through,
  5. Analyze the relations of music industry and social dynamics through new media technologies.

Requires consent of instructor for non-departmental students
The course focuses on current issues, the sessions will be highly dynamic. Therefore, the students are required to actively attend and participate to the classes. Any student can only be absent up to five times, unless otherwise there is a force majeure situation preventing the student to come to the class. In order to pass the course, students have to submit two assignments and two projects. Late submissions are not allowed unless until there is a force majeur situation.

Graduates of the programs will be able to;
1. to have knowledge about harmony, orchestration and form in classical and contemporary music; to compose pieces exhibiting contemporary technics using this knowledge.
