In this interdisciplinary course, historical evaluation of geothermal energy, power production and district heating application with geothermal fluids and other geothermal applications regarding to geothermal energy systems are explained. Different geothermal power production methods are evaluated from Turkey and from the world cases. Environmental effects of geothermal power plant are also examined in this course.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to;
  1. Understand the basics of geothermal systems and be aware of geothermal fluids.
  2. Understand to establish geothermal power production from geothermal fluids.
  3. Understand different geothermal power cycles with case studies from Turkey and the world.
  4. Understand different geothermal power cycles with case studies from Turkey and the world.
  5. Understand geothermal district heating application and other direct applications of geothermal fluids.
  6. Understand environmental effects of geothermal power plants and finance of geothermal power projects.
  7. Gain ability to work in multi-disiplinary teams
