About The Program

The Department of Mathematics offers the opportunity to study mathematics in two separate tracks, Pure Mathematics and Financial Mathematics. The Pure Mathematics curriculum is modeled on that of the world’s leading departments. Throughout the first two years of intensive study, students acquire the basics of abstract mathematics and the skills of mathematical thinking. The last two years are concentrated on advanced subjects and prepare the students for graduate courses at the highest international level and for individual research. In the six-week long summer school held every year, our students get the chance to have one-to-one contact both with their peers and their instructors and to better their mathematical knowledge. In the weekly seminars held during the academic year, students are given the opportunity to meet internationally renowned mathematicians and listen to their lectures. The major aim of the program is to prepare our students for graduate study in pure mathematics in the leading universities of the world. However, those who wish may continue their career in applied mathematics in areas such as computer science, economics, finance or business administration.
